The Pinny was taken on March 1, 2026 at 8:57 AM. This location was a spot that I had scouted the day before and knew there would be hundreds of pintail. It was a big warm water slough that had been being used as a staging ground during the reverse migration. This day was one of the biggest reverse migration days i've experienced since I started filming waterfowl. There were thousands of mallards and pintail streaming in from the south. This day I actually had to move positions due to lighting and had bumped a good portion of the birds off, though they came back only minutes later. Pintails are one of my favorite birds to film, as they always have so much attitude. I hope you enjoy this photo as much as I enjoyed taking it.
